Mauler

SUMMARY

COLLECTING TIPS

As mentioned before this is actually the largest mech in the assortment. It is really huge standing 30 cm tall and 21 cm wide. The cockpit ejection mechanism is quite complicated and contains a 2 part head and a base plate which works as a pilot seat.

It is quite strange that only the top 4 rockets of the LRM launchers can be fired. The four rockets of the lower half are just for show, or storage. Whatever you prefer more.

The big rocket in the right arm is kind of disappointing because it is too heavy and so the springs lack the required punch. The left arm features a mechanism which you can turn via a wheel to simulate a rapid fire laser system.

Check that all small sixteen rockets are present. The 3 part head piece is mostly incomplete on loose Maulers. The ejection mechanism is often not working anymore.

Also there is something peculiar on Maulers which I have noticed over my collecting years: The orange plastic of the ejection mechanism (which imitates the flames), the right hand gatling laser parts and the big right hand rocket are discoloring in a strange way. There seems to be desposit of a darker orange on these parts over time. This can be normally cleaned but it eventually reapears. There could be a connection to the frosting on Star Wars figures or the discoloration on MotU figures which is quite common.
